Selected projects:

The projects in our portfolio are all devoted specifically to children, are backed by thorough and convincing documentation, and are characterized by extremely low administrative expenses.

Organization

The McKinsey for Children charity has two chapters, the founding chapter in Germany and the new Swiss chapter.

Both chapters have a large team of McKinsey employees, complemented by an executive board, led by Dr. Claus Benkert (chairman) in Germany and Stephane Rey in Switzerland. Everyone works on a voluntary basis and devotes personal time to their engagement with the charity.

The team meets several times a year to discuss individual projects, initiate activities, and decide whether to take on new projects. The McKinsey for Children team is responsible for seeing that the strict selection criteria for inclusion in the project portfolio are observed.

At its annual general meeting, the executive board delivers a report on McKinsey for Children's activities, with details of receipts and expenditures, and reports on the projects receiving support.

The McKinsey for Children team is in direct and near-constant contact with all of the projects it supports. When the charity reviews "our" projects on site, it obtains direct information on project participants and has the opportunity to intervene personally and take corrective action, as needed.
